Thanks for a great season!

Heartfelt thanks to friends, neighbors, and those who just happened to stop by for making my opening season so much fun!  It was great to chat with you each Saturday and to meet new friends.

I'll be closed until Spring, but keep visiting back here to double-check...you just may see a Pop-Up Sale before then.

Maybe Valentine's Day goodies or warm loaves of bread & rolls along with Mason Jars of old-fashioned soup mixes...just right for quick & easy meals on these frosty winter days.

Until then, I'm sending wishes for a wonderful new year...
see you in 2024!

December 08, 2023

OPEN - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1:00 - 4:00 LAST DAY THIS YEAR!

As I end my first season of Sweet Meadow Dairy, I want to express a heartfelt thanks to all who have encouraged me and my little cottage foods shop - family, friends, neighbors, and those who have just stopped by on a whim. It's been important to me to have a little spot where you can find homemade, tried & true, handed down recipes, along with foods that are in-season and made with local ingredients.

Thank you so much for your support!

Saturday, December 9 will be my last open day for the year...but check back from time-to-time...you never know when I will have a surprise Pop Up Sale before opening again full time in the Spring.

This last December sale will again be Cookie Week - you'll find several different kinds of cookies packaged for you to take home and fill tins or cookie boxes for gift giving.

You'll find some cookie plates with a variety of cookies ready to share, along with festive Mason Jars filled with treats and Layered Jar Mixes.  As always, there are jars of honey along with homemade jams.

This week there are also a few vintage pieces that will make extra-special gifts...keeping Christmas colors in mind, I have some Ruby Glass along with green candy dishes. I also have two sweet retro cookie jars - One by Red Wing known as Happy the Children Cookie Jar (1959-1967) and a McCoy Cookie Jar with Red Flowers (1945-1954). I've done my best to research the pieces so you will find them at a fair price. Some will have cookies tucked inside, but you can always purchase them separately if you'd like.

Wishing you all the best of the season; may you be blessed with the warmth of family and friends, and know the true joys of the Christmas season.

OPEN Saturday, December 2 1:00 - 4:00

 It's cookie week!

Artwork credit: Susan Branch

A note to let you know that Mae and I have been baking all week long!

When you stop in, you'll find oodles of cookies, all baked with love, prepackaged for sharing with family & friends, neighbors, teachers, mail carriers, and co-workers...even slipping into Christmas stockings.

Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint, Gingersnaps, Peanut Butter Blossoms, Buckeyes, and Sugar Cookies.

I also have Mason Jars filled with layered cookie mixes, and a selection of vintage/retro Christmas ornaments available if you'd like to add to your collection.

Just a note: December 2 will be the last day to find choose-your-own cookies, along with gift bags to slip them into, for holiday gift giving.

December 9 will be the last day I'm open this year, and while it will still be cookie week, all cookies will be a bagged variety and arranged in tins, cookie boxes, cookie jars, or on plates, also tucked into bowls or cups - ready for gift-giving!

While the tins and cookie boxes are new, the bowls/cups/plates are vintage Depression Glass (1929-1939) or old pottery (1940's).

Because of this, the prices will include not only the cookies, but the value of the glassware/pottery.

These are beautiful old items found at farm auctions, barn sales, estate sales, or flea markets...sharing these sweet vintage containers is at the heart of what I want to do, as well as following the wise example of our grandmothers: reduce, reuse, recycle.

Thanks so much for stopping by and supporting my small business - I appreciate you all so very much!

November 17, 2023

CLOSED: Saturday, November 18 and 25

Friends & Neighbors,

A note to let you know that Sweet Meadow Dairy will not  be open tomorrow or the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I'll be back on Saturday, December 2 with cookies galore! You'll find cookies arranged on vintage plates, yummy treats tucked into sweet little cups, or piled high on retro plates or in bowls...all ready for gift-giving. (Prices will vary depending on the plate/teacup/glassware).

There will also be cookies bagged up for you to arrange in your own cookie tins, slip into stockings, or keep for yourselves!

See you Saturday December 2...and remember to dress warmly, the old milkhouse is just like it was when built in 1950 - unheated!

November 11, 2023

OPEN - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11 1:00 - 4:00

Friends & Neighbors,

It's PIE WEEK here on the farm...just in time for Thanksgiving, and Mae & I have been up early baking pies to share!

If you have time to visit, today you'll ONLY  find pies for sale:

Each pie has the name of the person who shared the recipe with me or who inspired a handed-down, tried & true recipe.

Lisa's Chocolate Chip Pie

    like a chocolate chip cookie!

Tara's Everything but the Kitchen Sink Pie

filled with chocolate chips, coconut, caramel bits, & pecans

Aggie's Crumble Apple Pie

apples topped with a sweet, buttery crumble

Aggie's Double-topped Apple Pie

apples topped with a brown sugar crumble, then topped with pie crust

Ida's Cherry Pie

a combination of tart and dark, sweet cherries

Clara's Cinnamon Roll-topped Bumbleberry Pie

strawberries, cherries, & blueberries topped with cinnamon roll crust      drizzled with icing ... what a fun name!

Pies are special...it's a sweet invitation to hear, "Stay for pie!" when visiting family & friends. We each have our own favorite flavor and the discussions about all-butter vs. shortening crusts are always lively!

You won't find any "picture perfect" pies here, just pies made with love.

Because I'm a "one woman show" as the saying goes, there are a limited number of pies available. Some will even still be warm when they go to the milkhouse!

Prices range from $15 to $20

And remember to dress warmly...the old milkhouse is unheated!

Hope to see you soon!

November 03, 2023

OPEN: Saturday November 4, 1:00 - 4:00

 Happy November friends & neighbors!

October found me getting ready for the approach of winter...wood is stacked by the mudroom door, animals have been tucked in with extra bedding, bales of hay have been stacked in place...now all we can do is wait and see what Old Man Winter brings us!

Last week's Mummy Brownies disappeared so quickly, that I've decided to follow the inspiration of The Great British Bake Off and give each week it's own theme. This allows me to focus on one main bake, and you will know just what you'll find when you stop by.

As we get closer to the holidays I'll have Pie Week, Bread Week, Cookie Week, as well as others.

By special request, this week is:

Brownie Week!

Right now Mae (my 1950 Hotpoint oven) is baking up 4 different kinds of stuffed brownies...

Oreo

Nutella Cookie

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

York Peppermint Patty

I'll also have Triple Chocolate Brownies available filled with chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, and mini M&M's.

These aren't little brownie squares, these are baked in Muffin Cups so they're big, chocolaty, dense, & fudgy...a chocolate lover's dream!

And while definitely not a Brownie, I stopped by my favorite local Farmer's Market this week before it closes until spring, and I was so lucky to find they had local, late-season raspberries which I'm baking into loaves of Raspberry-Lemon Bread.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow...and thanks again for shopping local!

October 27, 2023

OPEN: Saturday October 28, 1:00 - 4:00

Hello to all
and
Happy Halloween!

To celebrate the fun of Halloween (all treats, no tricks!) tomorrow in the milkhouse you'll find some sweet goodies to keep or share.

Because the week has been filled with harvest-time chores, the selection is limited, but next week, we jump into November with pies, breads, fresh herbs, and all things celebrating Harvest & Home.

Tomorrow you'll find:

Mummy Brownies, Chocolate-coated Pretzel Rods with "eyes",
Monster Cookies (oats, chocolate chips, & M&M's...what's not to LOVE?), and loaves of Fresh Apple Bread.

Also starting tomorrow, I'll have a few Vintage/Retro Halloween items for sale as I share some goodies I've found over the years at barn & farm sales or at local charity shops...they're all a part of something new called:

(original design: Sweet Meadow Dairy)

and as the seasons change, I'll have vintage dishes, bowls, cookie jars, Depression Glass, etc. for sale that you can keep or give as gifts...more to come!

Hope to see you tomorrow, again, so appreciate you for shopping local!

October 20, 2023

OPEN: Saturday, October 21, 1:00-4:00

Friends & Neighbors,

Apples are plentiful here on the farm...our Fuji apple tree provided me with enough sweet apples for apple pie filling, applesauce, apple butter, apple cider, and still enough left over to share with friends!

I will be open tomorrow 1-4...stop by and you'll find the LAST of this year's zucchini bread, but will find that it's now paired alongside loaves of fresh Apple Bread.

You'll also find Peanut Clusters, Glazed Apple Pie Bars, and Mason jars filled with Apple Crisp, Apple Crumble, and Blackberry Pandowdy.

Some jars are small...just right for one, while others are a bit bigger - the perfect sharing size.

What's the difference, you say? All are fruit filling with a different topping:

Crisp has crunchy bits of pecans and oats in the streusel

Crumble has an old-fashioned sweet, buttery streusel

Pandowdy has pie crust shapes on top of the fruit

Each Mason Jar is filled with homemade pie filling, and if it's not homemade, it's Amish-made. And always, from-scratch crust.

Hope you can stop by...it's always fun to visit with you!

October 13, 2023

Open: Saturday, October 14 1:00 - 4:00

 Hi friends & neighbors!

After being closed for two weekends, I wanted to let you know we will be open again tomorrow, 1-4!

With fall's cooler weather, you'll find some new items for sale in the milkhouse...today Mae (my 1950 Hotpoint stove) and I have been in the kitchen baking sweet Apple Pandowdy along with Cherry Cobbler and Peach Cobbler.  You'll also find Zucchini Bread (with and without chocolate chips) - all perfect to enjoy with a steaming cup of herbal tea on these brisk mornings.

There's also plenty of Peanut Clusters, Charlie Brownies (sometimes known as Blondies), and No-Bake Cookies for your sweet tooth, or to enjoy during tomorrow's football games.

So, stop by when you can and say "Hi"...it's always great to catch up!

September 22, 2023

Open: Saturday, September 23 1:00 - 4:00

As September winds down, there is color everywhere...not the summery colors of geraniums or daisies, but the colors of fall..gold, russet, and crimson.
